Update from Ms. Sharp
Performing Arts
This week, Green Ridge and Blue Bay began blocking the plays. This means that we figure out where kids go on the stage and how they move across it. The enthusiasm for this process is exciting! Rose hips practiced their jokes, resolutions, and letters to Santa.
With a week until our next class, it’s super important that kiddos work on their lines for the plays at home. Working on the plays is so much easier once lines are memorized. Scripts should be in the kids backpacks. Please make sure that the scripts are back at school next Tuesday, Nov. 11th.
The kids worked with their buddies to create drawings to submit for our promotional materials for the show. We have selected a few amazing submissions and can’t wait for you to see them!
Update from Mr. Sump
Blue Bay
In Humanities, Blue Bay is wrapping up our unit on Ancient Mesopotamia and students took a test today in class over the content from class time and information from their textbooks. Students also finished the final drafts of their journalism articles and submitted them to the Fall Newsletter Committee (Ms. Molly) for potential publication. Students worked hard on these and they should have a copy they can show you in their Homework folders. I am proud of all the effort these students have been putting in on a daily basis! It adds up.
In Math, Blue Bay students have been working hard on decimal operations and took a test on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing numbers with decimals. If a student finishes their work early in class, they have been practicing their fact fluency using 99Math. 99Math is a website/program in which they each have an account. They practice various math skills and get lots of repetition in topics like multiplication and division, for example. Using the points they earn from accuracy in their math, they can build new things and improve our class village, which is something that anyone in the class can add onto. If your kiddo is interested in using 99Math at home as a practice tool, they will be allowed up to 15 minutes per day, provided you would allow it. During our conference, I can provide information on how students can log in after school hours.
During Buddy Time, younger students worked alongside their mentor to create art submissions for the Winter Performance Posters. Students got into the holiday spirit early, as we played holiday music and they used pencil and marker to create a piece based on the theme “Winter Joy.” Ms. Sharp now has a lot of good options to choose from for the fliers!

Rose Hips
I am looking forward to sharing all of the Rosehips’ great work! Thank you for making the time to meet.
Rose Hip & Green Ridge Science
We have finished our Wide World of Schools Unit. Students brought home work in their purple folders on Monday. Please look at some of the things they learned and talked about. The main takeaway we established as a class was “education is a basic human right” and “we need to work together so everyone feels included and welcome at school.”
Update from Mr. B
Green Ridge
While not our best behavioral week to be heading into conferences on, all Green Ridge students have something to showcase and important reflections to share! See everyone at conferences!
Update from Mr. Sharp
Field Studies
We had a wild and wet last week at BBS. We hosted a very creative and fun Halloween party last Friday with some inspiring costumes. What a great group of kids this year and a supportive bunch of parents. Thanks everyone for making it so enjoyable. We are also looking forward to meeting with families in the next couple days for conferences. This is a great time of year to celebrate some of the growth we have seen and discuss goals for the coming months.
In Field Study class we learned about the Mt. St. Helens eruption of 1980 this week. Students are starting to see their home in the Ring of Fire in a new light as they realize the dynamic forces that have shaped the Cascade mountains including our local region. We also have spent more time on the role of plate tectonics in creating volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis.
PE/Health Class
After spending a few days playing football last week we tried a couple new sports this week. We got out some Hi-Li equipment and learned to throw and catch with them. Then we set up the bowling balls and pins and practiced that. Students are getting exposure to a wide range of sports and games in P.E. this year.
