Hello Families,

We’re entering into the last 3 weeks of school and the calendar is chock full of events! We have several opportunites for volunteers to join the fun:

  • If you’d like to chaperone a field trip, there are two coming up – May 30 & June 5; email Delaney if available to help.
  • The PTO is offering a fun filled afternoon at Lake Creek Lodge and seeking 4 volunteers on June 9th 1-3pm; email Koli for details.
  • The Library is getting a major overhaul this summer and we will need detail orientated folks to re-process & label every book. A complete training will be held on June 10th 9am-1pm. Email Molly or Jennie for more info.

Finally, please mark your calendars for our last day celebration on June 13th. Families are welcome to join after 10:30am and the “Big Spray” starts at 11am. We will have snacks and celebrate our community at 11:30am before ending the day at noon. We hope to see you there!

      Update from Ms. Steele

      Administrators (5th-8th)

The Administrators are working on wrapping up their San Francisco essays.  Everyone seems to be in the peer editing process which is great because the essays are due on Friday.

In math, we are trying to squeeze in a little geometry in these last few weeks.  We are working with geometric formulas around area and volume.

All other class time right now is devoted to working on the San Francisco slideshow.   The learning curve for most of us is pretty steep, and it’s a great opportunity to be involved in a project from ground zero.

      Update from Ms. Kassie

      K-1 Literacy & Math

We are working on our portfolios and wrapping up concepts from last week in both math and literacy.

      • K-1 Literacy and Math Work and Play to try at home
        • Look for examples of half, thirds and fourth or quarters around you!
        K-2 Science

In science we have been learning about primary sources and archaeology as ways to learn about the past. Ask students what they dug up at school on Monday.

        Update from Mr. B

        BeBop Literacy & Math (2nd-4th)

The Bebop crew is working on a few perimeter and area challenges this week as well as tidying up their math folders (completing/revising past work).

In literacy, the other vowel phoneme /ou/ is getting all the attention. Students have read and written about sunflowers.

        Art Literacy

In art literacy, students are getting messy with oil pastels as they work on making lighter values (tints) of primary and secondary hues.

        Update from Mr. Sharp

        Field Studies (3rd-8th)

We have been getting outdoors every afternoon this past week and enjoying springtime in Camp Sherman. In Field Study class we are working on learning our native plants. We are watching their changes as they grow leaves and produce flowers. The students have a list of 15 native plants they are tasked with learning by the end of the school year. We went to Lake Creek Lodge on Friday to monitor their beaver habitat restoration.

        PE/Health Class

In P.E. class we have been learning about lacrosse. We have gotten the sticks out and are working on cradling, ground balls, throwing and catching. The kids are showing enthusiam in learning this exciting sport. We will also cover some basics of baseball before the end of the year to round out our spring sports schedule.
