What do you get when you mix kids from rural forested Oregon with the big city by the bay?
- Hardcore Parkour on anything one can jump on
- Sea lions competing for space on the docks
- A private tour of the historic Dolphin Swimming and Boating club by a BBS alum
- A very windy and bumpy boat ride out to Alcatraz
- And miles of walking and watching!
Everyone is having a great time and finding ways to push themselves to new levels of growth and maturity.

K-1 Literacy & Math
We are enjoying having the school a bit smaller this week and the opportunity for field trips and art projects.
In literacy we are still working on vowel team “igh” and have learned “oa” like in boat.
In math we have found so many different strategies to add 2 digits numbers from pictures to breaking apart 10s and 1s to number lines.
This week and next are on the computers to see what we have learned this year in math and literacy.
K-2 Science
No science classes this week due to field trips and mosaic art classes, however Mr. B taught a special science lesson on kombucha today!
Update from Mr. B
BeBop Literacy & Math (2nd-4th)
Beboppers are working on prime factoring and writing lengthy numbers in words! They are playing with one of the other vowel sounds, /oi/, and are reading about poison dart frogs as well as other informational text.
Today, K-3 helped Mr. B make a batch of Golden Jasmine Kombucha. They talked about S.C.O.B.Y. and other gross microorganisms.
Art Literacy
A two-day mosaic art workshop will be taught by a guest teacher Thurs & Fri this week.
Update from Mr. Sharp

- Beach play time at Crissy Field
- Playing pool and games at the hostel
- Shopping at Pier 39
- Alcatraz tour – pretty intense but very interesting
- Amazing views from our hostel

- Arcade games at Musée Méchanique
Today, we will ride the cable cars, walk through Chinatown, and then see the Broadway play Mama Mia. Overall, the students have been very positive and are having fun exploring all that San Francisco has to offer.
