Admissions

Admissions, Enrollment, and Transfers

In-district

All students living within the Black Butte School District (BBSD) boundaries (‘resident students’) may attend Black Butte School. Students in grades 7-12 may enroll at Sisters Middle or High Schools under a BBSD and Sisters School District (SSD) tuition agreement contract. For students attending Sisters Middle School or Sisters High School, BBSD will remain the student’s residing district with SSD serving as the attending district. ‘Resident students’ who attend Sisters Middle School or Sisters High School may also be eligible for supplemental services provided by BBSD, including among other items, reimbursement of pay-to play fees, college counseling and college testing preparation courses.

Application

Please complete the 2023-2024 student enrollment form and return to the Head Teacher. Please also bring a copy of the student’s immunization records at the time of enrollment.

Transferring into Black Butte School District

Out-of-district

BBSD does accept transfer students from outside of the district. If interested in applying to transfer into Black Butte School District, please fill out the application linked here. If the application is approved, permission from the resident school district superintendent is required.

The Inter-District Transfer application is for any student who does not reside within the boundaries of Black Butte School District and wishes to enroll in the school. In addition to completing an Inter-district Transfer Request form in your child/ren’s resident district, please complete this application to be eligible for enrollment in Black Butte School. In addition to this application, interested families must schedule a school tour and meeting with the Head Teacher, Delaney Sharp, dsharp@blackbutte.k12.or.us. All applications must be submitted by August 1 in order to be considered for the new school year.

Please note: All transfer requests will be processed on a case-by-case basis, depending on availability of spaces at the grade level/s requested. Please note that bussing may not be available and parents may need to provide transportation to and from school.

BBSD may deny regular school admission to a student who is expelled from another school district and who subsequently becomes a resident of the district or who applies for admission to the district as a nonresident student. The district may revoke transfers for not meeting behavior requirements or meeting attendance standards. A transfer cannot be revoked for academic reasons.

If you require any additional information please call Head Teacher, Delaney Sharp at 541.595.6203 or dsharp@blackbutte.k12.or.us.

Resident Students Transferring out of Black Butte School District

We believe that school choice is an important part of the educational process. Certainly we hope resident families and students believe that the Black Butte School is the best educational option. However, if you are considering transferring out of BBSD, we would appreciate discussing such a move prior to it being a final decision. If you are prepared to move your child(ren), please read the documents linked below that detail the policies as well as the application form. If a ‘resident student’ leaves the district on an inter-district transfer to another school district, that student will no longer be a ‘resident student’ of BBSD.

NON-DISCRIMINATION NOTICE: Black Butte School District recognizes the diversity and worth of all individuals and groups in our society. It is the policy of the BBSD Board of Directors that all educational programs, activities, and employment will be free of discrimination or harassment on the grounds of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, parental or marital status, or age.
